_project Name: The Veil Commercial Tower
_location: Dubai, UAE
_brief: The client wanted a 60-story tower which responded to the site.
_considerations: The site is situated on the edge of the city so the structure needed to harness the natural and manmade vistas
_response: We have created a building which responds with a completely different level of openness depending on which side it is facing. Like wearing a veil, it is open to the city centre on one side and more closed to the desert on the opposite side - an advantage when considering reductions in carbon emissions when cooling the building. Completion for 2012.

_project Name: L'Viv Country Club
_location: Ukraine
_brief: To develop a signature modern 5 star hotel and country club using an existing palace as a starting point.
_considerations: The palace is a listed building and so we had to retain the building's integrity but bring the project into the 21st century.
_response: The juxtaposing of the "ancient mythical" palace and the "futuristic mythical" fortress will be a benchmark in modern architecture and immediately create a remarkable marketing opportunity.

The hotel will be surrounded by a moat which is pierced with glass structures bringing light to the spa and other facilities situated at basement level. The awe-inspiring approach to the main hotel will be reached by a covered walkway leading from the reception area, through the moat.

Immediately surrounding the moat will be five buildings which will house commercial businesses on ground floor level and apartments above, all facing the architectural centrepiece and heart of the "village". An further 14 buildings will offer additional apartments.

Facilities will include an 18 hole golf course, tennis academy, equestrian centre and bowls club. Individual villas will be located around the golf course.
